Scotland

Great weekend in Scotland! We arrived in Edinburgh late Friday night, but did squeeze in a goodnight pint at a local pub in the Old Town before heading to bed.

We headed out early on Saturday for a full day tour into the Scottish Highlands. I had found the Hairy Coo Tour on Trip Advisor (aka: my Travel Bible) and had booked a couple of seats. Luckily they had a cancellation so C could join us on the tour. She had booked a last minute trip to Scotland after scoring a UK visa and after a very stressful morning of me attempting to wrestle her passport from the British Embassy (a story for another time) was able to join us for our Scottish weekend.

It was apparent from the very beginning that our kilt clad tour guide, Donald, was as passionate about giving us a day to remember as he is about his homeland.

Somewhere among the peaceful lochs, stately castles and our search for the Hairy Coo (furry Highland cows) in the glorious beauty of the Highlands we had unknowingly had a crash course on Scottish history...from the early clans of Scotland to Mary Queen of Scots to present day he covered it all through fascinating stories and witty humor.

We had a wonderful day…

Sunday we spent exploring Edinburgh…

Dramatic in landscape and rich with architecture and history, it really proved to be one of our favorite cities in Europe.

This weekend we’re finally making our way to Scandinavia- Denmark and hopefully a quick jaunt into Sweden.

Only 2 more weekends before we head to the Far East! We’re starting to get really excited about our time in Japan, but don’t want our time in Ireland to come to an end. Tough problem to have, huh?
